Team TMX Group

When We Work Together, There’s Nothing We Can’t Accomplish

As the saying goes, there is no “I” in team, and with collaboration and teamwork at the core of everything they set out to accomplish, the team at TMX Group (TMX) — a leading global market operator and analytics solutions provider — has integrated this old adage into its culture.

“We encourage teamwork and innovation since we know that when we work together, there’s nothing we can’t accomplish,” said Rizwan Awan, President, Equities Trading and Head of TMX Markets, Products & Services for TMX Group.

With Wall Street Rides FAR attracting some of the most prominent firms on Wall Street and beyond, TMX is excited to be fielding a team this year and showing its support for the Autism Science Foundation via a virtual satellite Ride in Toronto. Having sponsored Wall Street Rides FAR for the first time in 2020, Awan shared that despite the physical distance, the powerful sense of camaraderie that the Ride generates and the compelling nature of the cause inspired Team TMX to “lace up their runners”.

“At TMX Group, we are grateful to have the capacity to give back to our local communities. We strive to be generous with our time, money and resources to make our communities better,” said Awan. “TMX is passionate about supporting causes that are important to our employees and to our society. Autism has touched all of our team members in one way or another, some of us directly, others through friends or family who have children or siblings with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). With them at the forefront of our minds, we are honored to ride in support of the Autism Science Foundation.”

In addition to their excitement at coming together to bring attention to ASD and to support autism research, Team TMX welcomes the Ride as an ideal opportunity to spend time with one another after months of being separated due to working from home. As they prepare to hit the streets of Toronto, the group is also gearing up to challenge fellow teammates to push themselves to the next level.

“Although we will be riding as a lone group in Toronto, there’s no doubt going to be a bit of friendly competition amongst us,” laughed Awan. “As a team, we always encourage and support each other to give it our absolute all in everything that we do. There’s no doubt: our people power our success.”

With philanthropy being a critical component of TMX’s mission, Awan shared that the team is proud to support initiatives like Wall Street Rides FAR, which allows individuals to have a hands-on experience and play an active role in championing an indispensable charity.

“Philanthropic initiatives are an important cornerstone of everything we do here at TMX. Whether it’s in the office or biking for a cause we believe in on the streets of Toronto, we work hard to foster a culture of giving so that all employees have the opportunity to make an impact on their community,” said Awan. “Wall Street Rides FAR has gained some incredible traction internally, and that between our riders and those supporting them, our first Ride as a team is sure to be a breakaway success.”

“It’s amazing to know that there will be others riding alongside us from so many different locations who also believe in this incredible initiative. We can’t lose sight of the fact that there are causes, such as Wall Street Rides FAR, that transcend industry competition,” added Awan. “We can be aggressive in our respective arenas but must act as partners if we are to build a better future.”
