Team Blockdaemon

Going the Extra Mile to Give Back

For a company that values the ability to champion causes that matter, it was an easy choice for Blockdaemon—a blockchain infrastructure platform connecting institutions and developers—to join Rides FAR.

While among many other firms in the crypto community giving their time and resources to support the cutting-edge research enabled by the Autism Science Foundation (ASF), Blockdaemon holds a particularly close connection to the cause. Melissa Moo Harkins, Co-Founder of Rides FAR, joined Blockdaemon last year and inspired her teammates to strap on their helmets for this year’s event.

In addition to being motivated by Melissa’s personal involvement with the cause, the Ride aligns with Blockdaemon’s mission to partake in charitable events that contribute to the greater good.

“Participating in an event that supports a cause like the Autism Science Foundation is something that everyone at Blockdaemon wants to do,” said Mike McCoy, Senior Product Manager at Blockdaemon. “We want to be part of mission-driven events that will help others in the community and give back to important initiatives—and Rides FAR meets that description.”

“Blockdaemon is not only here to create services that grow the crypto and financial technology ecosystems,” continued McCoy. “We are also a mission-driven company that wants to see people from all walks of life benefit. Blockdaemon cares about how it can positively impact the lives of others and leave its mark on the community.”

Being a fully remote organization, Blockdaemon is passionate about taking part in opportunities to bond with one another as a team as well as other industry members. Blockdaemon values the flexibility of Rides FAR, as it allows for quality face-to-face time among those who can attend, while providing a remote option for those who cannot be physically present.

“Rides FAR is a perfect example of how you don’t need an office space to feel connected with people in today’s world,” said McCoy. “It is amazing to be part of an event that will help our team bond with one another, while becoming better versions of themselves by helping others in the process.”

In addition to facilitating life-changing scientific research, ASF provides key educational resources to autism families and the public in an effort to shed light on the many misunderstandings and misconceptions that surround autism spectrum disorder. For Blockdaemon, the team knows just how impactful it can be to have an open dialogue on complex topics.

“Crypto is fairly young and new, and it is often met with misunderstanding and misinformation,” added McCoy. “Similarly, the Autism Science Foundation strives to provide individuals with a better understanding of the complexities of autism. All in all, we feel that ASF and Blockdaemon have very similar goals in facilitating awareness of complex topics, which makes us even more enthusiastic about participating in Rides FAR.”
