FAQs

What are the fundraising requirements?

  • $500 minimum for riders on the 20-mile and longer cycling routes.
  • For trail walkers and riders on the 12- and 4-mile routes, the fundraising minimum is $250 for an individual or family of up to two parents and two children under 12.
  • Virtual riders: No fundraising minimum, but you must raise at least $500 to qualify for our virtual rider benefits.

Is there a minimum age?

Yes. You must meet these minimum ages:

  • 16+ on the metric century route
  • 14+ on the 30-mile route
  • 12+ on the 20- and 12-mile routes
  • All ages are welcome on the 4-mile loop and the 5K trail walk

All participants under 18 must ride or walk with a parent or guardian; no more than two minors per adult.

Do I need to bring my own bicycle?

  • Bike rentals are available through Unlimited Biking.  Rentals need to be reserved in advance. Bike helmets are included free of charge with every bike rental.

  • Please note that all riders must wear a helmet in order to participate in the event.

How much of the money will go to the Autism Science Foundation?

We work very hard to keep production expenses as low as possible by soliciting sponsorships, donations and discounts for supplies.

To date, each year our sponsors’ support have made it possible for 100% of participant donations to be delivered to ASF. Ultimately, the amount of money, and the percent return, depends upon how many people ride and how much each rider raises.

What is the terrain like?

Spectacularly scenic! The longer the route you choose, the hillier the terrain. The shortest route will have a few climbs; the metric century will have lots of challenges for more fit riders. On a virtual ride, the terrain is whatever you make it.

GPS routes are available, but please note the Ride with GPS links are for informational purposes only and should not be used for navigation on the event. Your actual route may deviate from those posted here; follow the posted signs at the event

Do I need to be affiliated with Wall Street in order to participate?

Absolutely not! While we are most grateful to the Wall Street community for its outpouring of support (please visit our Sponsors page for examples), Wall Street Rides FAR is open to all.

The Routes

The Metric Century
A challenging and hilly, wonderfully scenic 62-mile loop up to Bedford, NY, across to Greenwich, CT and back. This route features three oases stocked full of hydration, snacks and good cheer. (Total climbing: 4,100 feet)

The Intermediate

A 30-mile loop to Greenwich. This popular route is a subset of the metric century, with a healthy dose of challenging hills and one oasis. (Total climbing: 2,000 feet)

The Not-As-FAR

A 20-mile loop through wooded neighborhoods in White Plains and Purchase, NY. Avid recreational cyclists will love this short-but-sweet leafy route, including an oasis to recharge! (Total climbing: 1,200 feet)

The Not-FAR

A 12-mile sampling of our longer routes, complete with an oasis halfway through. It is short, but not entirely sweet, with a couple of climbs to remember. A few short training rides with hills in advance will have you ready in no time! It is fun, manageable, and gorgeous! (Total climbing: 800 feet)

The Friendly Loop
A  4-mile route through leafy, suburban neighborhoods. There are just a couple of hills, and you’ll get the bigger one out of the way early. This is a great route for more novice cyclists who want to be part of the event. (Total climbing: 280 feet)

The 5K

A 5K walk on the beautiful, wooded trail in Saxon Woods Park. Please wear proper footwear (sneakers or hiking boots). Note, the trail is not stroller friendly.

Family Fun

Families will have a blast at Wall Street Rides FAR! Choose the activities that suit your interests. If you have a family member taking part in one of the longer cycling routes, you can enjoy our family fun while s/he is out riding, and still be on hand to cheer your loved one back home at the end.

We’ll have three primary activities to pick from. The 12-mile Family Challenge is a sample of our longer routes, complete with an oasis midway through. The 4-mile family ride is a loop through a leafy neighborhood on mostly quiet streets.

Back this year is our 5K trail walk! Take a hike together on the trails that wind through Saxon Woods County Park and enjoy the fall foliage on a beautiful late September day.

Upon your return to the finish festival site, there’s more family fun! The kids can choose from a selection of games, play miniature golf, and, of course, enjoy a delicious lunch.
